Personal Branding Coach and The Founder of Person-Centered Branding®
Wendy Wendy Newman is a Personal Branding Coach and the founder of Person-Centered Branding® (PCB). She works with professional athletes, celebrities and high-profile business people to create an authentic, enduring brand based upon who they are as a person, rather than on their performance.
Wendy founded Person-Centered Branding® with a two-decade track record in marketing, branding, public relations and communications. Whether increasing sales and media exposure by as much as 525% for high profile personalities and Fortune 500 companies such as Starbucks, CBS, and Clear Channel Communications; doubling consumer marketing division billings in record time as head of the consumer marketing division at Hill & Knowlton, then the top PR agency in the world; enhancing morale and increasing productivity by establishing worldwide employee relations and community programs for well-known organizations such as PBS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Chrysler/Dollar Rent A Car, Wendy always had the magic touch of creating a success story. Too magic a touch, she would one day discover.
After a hugely successful campaign to create a softer, more charitable image for her client, then the number one radio talk show host in the country with 18-20 million listeners, her client was heard on air being anything but “soft”. Wendy watched as her client’s image came crashing down amidst the public backlash, not to mention television, publishing and product deals falling apart. She was left with a sinking feeling. "I suddenly recognized my responsibility in this,” says Wendy. “I was too busy fortifying an image without really knowing the whole picture. I was out of integrity with the public. This episode made me realize that “authenticity” – knowing every client from the inside-out and making certain their branding starts there – would forevermore be central to my work.”
Inspired by this experience, Wendy went back to school to get her Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology and developed her unique, proprietary published approach of Person-Centered Branding®. Based on a marriage of marketing and humanistic psychology, PCB reverses the traditional branding model. “The key to a great personal brand,” Wendy explains, “is to start with a person’s authentic identity rather than a contrived image. The result is not only a sustainable brand that endures beyond the client’s latest ‘success’ or ‘win,’ but also leads to a high level of personal and professional fulfillment.”
Committed to her own authentic self-expression, Wendy's dedication to her role as Coach is balanced with her devotion to her role as Mentor. Passionate about being of service, she volunteers her time and energy to organizations that support and encourage our youth. Wendy has taught an entrepreneurial program to inner-city high school students through Students for a Better Tomorrow, created teen workshops and programs through Blue Orchid Foundation and Fulcrum Learning Systems, and brought PCB skills to nationally acclaimed organizations such as Kaplan K12 Learning Services. She also volunteers for organizations such as Heartfelt Foundation that support financially challenged families and at-risk youth, facilitates women's empowerment weekends for Woman Within and served on the Board of Women Worldwide.
Wendy has a professional designation and certification in public relations from UCLA, Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and communications from University of the State of New York, and Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology from USM. She resides in Beverly Hills with her husband Mitch, a Relationship and Communication Coach, daughter Alexa, and their 80-pound lap dog Charly, all co-founders of Heart-Centered BusinessSM, an Online community dedicated to growing business from a heartfelt place.
