I am not even going to pretend that I know what it is like to get inside a guy’s head, but I do know this, we do approach life very differently at times, especially in the area of relationships. I can’t tell you how many times my female clients, when referring to their partners or boyfriends, will project how they deal and process life on to their significant others. I got news for you, “it won’t work.” Men do not think like the average girl. As an example, a woman may ask me, “do you think he really loves me but because he just lost his job and is in his cave that is why he has not called me for four days?”…“And do you think his silence really means he is looking at why he and I are not talking and do you think he will want to go to therapy and really at look at why he pushes me away like he does?” Some of these questions are back to back and in the same conversation as we women process in a variety of ways. It’s not that men won’t ask themselves questions, but they may not be so quick to delve into all these possibilities in one quick swoop. It’s usually a little more black and white and simplistic in the approach.
Usually men do not even think about these areas we women venture into as the mind of a man. More times than not, if a man says he does not want a relationship, he means it. There is no hidden meaning behind it. Remember the book and movie, “He’s Just Not That into You?” The concept was so popular because we as women are always delving deeper into what it really means…
In approaching this subject this week, I found it amazing how some men thought they would get in trouble if they thought like a man and others say thinking like a man is more multi-dimensional. So my message for you ladies, is not to stereotype your man, but to try to understand his mind not from yours but from his point of view. Sometimes if we can step out of ourselves and listen instead of talking, understand instead of projecting and open to another’s point of view instead of controlling, we can have a much better communication and relationship. So as we explore this topic from Steve Harvey’s THINK LIKE A MAN, let us all look a little closer at ourselves and have compassion for our differences and look at new ways we can evolve and relate to each other – thinking, feeling… and then some!

“Roadie” Written by Gerald Cuesta and Michael Cuesta, and Directed by Michael Cuesta
For over 20 years, Jimmy Testagross has lived his childhood dream: being a roadie for his childhood heroes, Blue Oyster Cult. But the band’s Arena-Rock glory days are a distant memory. County fairs and club gigs pay the bills. And Jimmy has become a casualty of these leaner times. With no place to go, no job prospects, and no real skills outside of being a roadie, Jimmy needs to regroup. So he returns to his childhood home in Queens, New York.
There, he revisits old relationships: his ailing, widower mom, a high school crush, a former nemesis and, most importantly, his relationship with himself. Jimmy, the middle-aged man-child, has never grown up. He still carries the resentments and frustrations of his youth, and has allowed them to fester and define who and what he is. Confronted with his mother’s illness, Jimmy has a choice: let go of the past and take responsibility for both himself and the woman who raised and now needs him. Or continue to live a life of lies and frustration.
Summary written by Gerald Cuesta

Oscar® winners Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts reunite for a dramatic comedy about how the hard knocks from today’s recession inspire one everyday guy to undergo a personal reinvention: Larry Crowne.
Until he was downsized, affable, amiable Larry Crowne (Hanks) was a superstar team leader at the big-box company where he’s worked since his time in the Navy. Underwater on his mortgage and unclear on what to do with his suddenly free days, Larry heads to his local college to start over. There he becomes part of a colorful community of outcasts, also-rans and the overlooked all trying to find a better future for themselves…often moving around town in a herd of scooters. In his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes Tainot (Roberts), who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.
The simple guy who has every reason to think his life has stalled will come to learn an unexpected lesson: when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might discover your reason to live.
LifeBites Question: Have you ever learned an important life lesson when everything seemed to be falling a part around you? If so, what did you learn?

Get Reel Hollywood: “Just Go with it” Opens in Theaters February 11, 2011
Overview:
From one of my all time favorite directors, Dennis Dugan comes “Just Go With It.” This charming two-hours of fun is about a plastic surgeon, romancing a much younger schoolteacher, who enlists his loyal assistant to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, the assistant’s kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.
