Five Tips to Help You Keep your New Year’s Resolutions!

  1. Tell People About Your New Year’s Resolutions – Keeping yourself accountable is KEY!
  2. Write Your New Year’s Resolutions Everywhere – 95% of what you write down has a better chance of ‘sticking’
  3. Breakdown Your New Year’s Resolutions Into Smaller Bites (pardon the pun) … Don’t look at the entire mountain. One step at a time.
  4. Be Reasonable With Your New Year’s Resolutions – Don’t give yourself unreasonable goals. Set standards that you know you can succeed. Give yourself space and time to succeed too.
  5. The Crazy Way To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions – Don’t tell a single solitary person. Yes, you read that right. Sometimes it is better to keep your energy contained and don’t tell anyone. Make the commit to yourself first and see how it goes. It is another style of keeping your resolutions. Only you know what is right for you!

Building a Business

It’s easy to get stuck in your home office and get caught up working on the many projects and initiatives you’ve got going on.  I know that can happen to me.  It’s easy to come up with all sorts of excuses.  The question is…

Are your BUTS bigger than your business?

Coming this Month!

If you hear “no” more often than “yes” from your prospects and battle the same objections time and time again… I want to introduce you to Carolyn Herfurth.

If you haven’t heard of her (and I’d be surprised if you haven’t), Carolyn is quickly gaining a reputation for helping entrepreneurs and startups earn 4-5 figures more per month, land more of their ideal clients and virtually eliminate objections from their sales conversations.

She’s hosting the SELL event in Austin, Texas on February 25th where you’ll learn the exact strategy Carolyn used to build her multiple six-figure business.  You’ll also walk away with an actionable road map for easily getting new clients that will pay for your trip to Austin over and over again. HAPPY Employees = “The Happiness Factor”

I find it so interesting that even today there are businesses that still operate from the mentality that “I pay you to do a job. I could give _ _ _ _ to how you feel.” But maybe employers you should take note.

iOpener, a research and consultancy company revealed the effect that the recession had on productivity levels in the workplace.

iOpener has found that the happiest workers are the most productive, spending 80% of their working week focusing on what they are paid to do. By contrast, the least happy employees only spend 40% of their time being productive.

In concrete terms that means that the unhappiest employees are working only about two days per week. The research found that prior to the recession, unhappy employees were intending to stay at their jobs for six months; now they are planning on staying 36 months.

This makes for difficult issues when the company may not be right for the employee and the employee is surely not right for the company. Long term, it can end up costing the company its sustainability.

Also most employees who have low happiness factor also have low self-belief, confidence, resilience, motivation, goal achievement, engagement, pride, trust, recognition and the feeling that they are reaching their potential.

Jessica Pryce-Jones Founder of iOpener and author of Happiness at Work commented that for far too long employers have thought that happiness is some fluffy light-weight concept: these numbers should ring alarm bells for anyone who thinks that just having a job should be reward enough.

If you work for a company or run or lead a company, what is your “Happiness Factor?”

Entrepreneur Spotlight

How long have you been an entrepreneur?
For 10 years

What made you take the LEAP?
At the time, guts and the ability to take a risk!

What makes a good entrepreneur?
I think you have to be grounded. Having vision alone will not make you a good entrepreneur. In today’s world you have to have vision coupled with practicality. Being well supported is not a bad place to begin a company, but it does not ensure success.

What are some of your strengths?
Passion, enthusiasm, creativity and tenacity!

What would you say to a new entrepreneur just starting out?
I was a co-author of the book “The Spirit of Women Entrepreneurs.” I listed five qualities for a new entrepreneur must have starting out.

  1. Trust your gut
  2. Have the plan and know the risks
  3. Never give up… but adjust along the way
  4. Visualize your success – FEEL it too!
  5. Passion will ignite your success!

What is your Business, Inspired story? (What inspired you in business?)
What inspired me in business and in what I do is I get to help people everyday! Some people I work with one-on-one, but many people I help, I might not ever meet. I think that is amazing that my company helps people become better people and employees. I inspired people to transform and go for their dreams and goals! I love that fact that I am doing the same!

In 2005, brothers Courtney and Carter Reum abandoned careers on Wall Street and started selling an Acai spirit out of the trunk of their car. Today, VeeV can be found in bars and liquor stores in all 50 states. Interesting concept. Maybe you have an idea itching to come out in the world.

How can you make it happen in 2011? Check out to see how these two brothers did it!
